Muscat: 88 percent of artisans in Oman are women, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Sultanate celebrates Omani Craftsmen Day on March 3. There has been a 1.9 percent increase in the number of artisans from 2017 to 2018.
NCSI data has revealed that: '21,557 is the total number of artisans in the Sultanate by the end of 2018, with an increase of 1.96 percent compared to 2017, with women making up 88 percent of the total number.'

Dhofar Governorate leads the tally of maximum number of artisans, which had 6,531 artistes by the end of 2018. Dhofar is followed by Al Sharqiah North Governorate with 4,495.
The Public Authority for Craft Industries, in an online statement said: "In conjunction with the Omani Craftsmen Day, Oman Post in cooperation with authority was launched Oman Khanjar stamp under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha Bint Khalfan Al Sayabi."
