MOH celebrates Omani Women's Day

Muscat: Under the auspices of H.H. Sayyida Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, and in line with the country’s celebration of the Omani Women's Day, the Ministry of Health (MOH) marked on Sunday the Omani Women's Day online at the Ministry’s headquarter with the presence of H.E. Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, along with H.E. Dr Fatma bint Mohammed Al Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs. The 11th celebration was aimed to highlight the achievements of Omani women in the health sector and honour them for their effective contribution in nation-building.

In a statement, H.H. Sayyida Mona bint Fahad al Said said, “We are proud of the medical cadres in general and female health workers in particular in all levels and fields for their efforts that are being exerted during the exceptional circumstances that we are experiencing.”

H.H. Sayyida Mona stressed that Omani women are a symbol of sacrifice to build the society. The Minister of Health pointed out in his recorded speech that 17th of October of every year proves the leading role of Omani women and it is a recognition by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, builder of Oman's modern renaissance, for their prominent role in driving the development along with the man since the onset of the blessed renaissance. He also stressed that Omani women are the main pillar in the society and the first stone in building the human at home, school, work and the whole society.  

Al Saidi added that women are empowered, especially in Oman, for which they have been given all the support, trust and social and political rights. Today, a woman is not only a decision-making partner but also a decision-maker.

H.E. Dr Fatma bint Mohammed Al-Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs said that Omani women are the basic pillar that the country relies upon to advance the progress in different fields. In addition, the Omani women are engaged in all parliamentary, health, economic and social levels.

The celebration included a video presentation on Omani women's achievements in the health sector at the level of the Ministry of Health along with providing healthcare for all citizens and residents.  On the sidelines of the event, Dr Fatma Al-Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs honoured a number of female staff of the Ministry of Health for their significant role.
