Eight expats fined for violating Supreme Committee decisions

Muscat: Eight expatriates have been asked to pay a fine of OMR 1,000 each for violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 and two of them were deported for violating residence and work laws, Public Prosecution said.

A statement issued online by Public Prosecution said: "The Court of First Instance in Sur convicted eight foreign defendants for violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee in charge of combating Covid-19 and ruled that each of them be fined OMR 1,000, half of which will be spent. Two of them were deported for violating the laws regulating foreigners' residence and work."

"The convicts were arrested for wandering during the period of movement ban."
