Celebrations on HM the Sultan’s visit to Sohar conclude

Sohar: Citizens in the Wilayat of Sohar concluded, yesterday, their celebrations organised on the arrival of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in the Wilayat of Sohar.
On the occasion, a maritime festival was organised at the sea-front of Sohar Mosque and Sohar Fort.
The festival has seen the participation of 100 boats with more than 500 participants onboard who performed various folk and traditional marine arts reflecting their delight over His Majesty’s arrival in the wilayat and expressing their loyalty to His Majesty the Sultan.
The festival also shed light on the historic role Sohar has played across history as a significant and vital centre for trade. A number of local folk troupes participated in the event.
Commodore Yaqoob bin Yousef Al Kamshaki, vice chairman of the Main Committee of Sohar Celebrations gave a speech in which he said that the “festival expresses the joy of citizens on the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan in the Wilayat of Sohar and reflects the maritime role, Sohar has played across history”.
He added that the festival came as a continuation of the celebrations of the wilayat which kicked off on the first day of Eid Al Adha.
