Cricket: Outstanding Ayaan powers Muscat to vital win over Al Turki

MUSCAT: Ayaan Khan’s outstanding 96 not out steered Muscat CT to a thrilling 2-wicket win over a defiant Al Turki NMC side in a Premier Division encounter at Oman Cricket grassy ground one in Amerat on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, Al Turki struggled all the way to 219 for 7 in its quota of 50 overs, Ajay Lalcheta emerging as the topscorer with a fighting 77 127 balls. Jayam Sunil Singh (36 not out) and Twinkle Bhandari (24) were the other notable scorers. Sandeep Goud and Ayaan Khan picked up three and two wickets respectively.
Muscat was cruising at 76 for two before losing two quick wickets. However, the ship was steadied by star all-rounder Ayaan Khan who saw his side to victory despite great bowling by a rampaging Al Turki attack led by left-arm spinner AdnanulHaq who bagged 4 for 35. Ajay Lalcheta bowled well too, taking 2 for 28. Opener Shoaib Khan was the other leading scorer with a solid 59.

Antony takes SAS & Partners to victory
Peter Antony slammed a 64-ball unbeaten 90 to see SAS & Partners to an exciting 8-wicket victory against PDO in a Senior Division Knockout Cup game at Muscat Municipality ground 2 in Amerat on Friday.
PDO run machine Abdul Naveed was once again its topscorer with an entertaining 103 not out studded with 11 fours and a six as it posted a robust 172 for 4 in 20 overs. Shamsudheen Shareef took two wickets.
SAS & Partners chased down the target with 8 balls to spare thanks to a fantastic 90 not out by Antony and equally valuable 48 not out by Shamsudheen.

Shantilan, Shuaib power Al Mardhuf to victory
Scintillating all-round performances by ShantilanShivji and Shuaib Ismail powered Al Mardhuf to a big 76-run victory against OCT Al Seeb in a Senior Division Knockout match at Muscat Municipality ground one on Friday.
OCT Seeb paid a heavy price for putting Al Mardhuf in as it piled up a huge 190 for 4 in 20 overs. Shatilan and Shuaib led the way with brilliant unbeaten knocks of 80 and 71 respectively. Abbas Al Balushi bagged two wickets.
Facing a big total, OCT Seeb succumbed to immense pressure, folding up for a paltry 114 in the 16th over.Shantilan and Shuaib were outstanding with the ball too, taking three wickets each. Yousuf Al Balushi scored 21.

In another Senior Division Knockout match, Muhammed Shaikh and Murad Khan were the stars of Basta CT’s emphatic 8-wicket win over Qurum Business Group (QBG).
Muthumurugan (59) and Suseendran (23) were the leading scorers in QBG’s 144 for 7 in 20 overs. Shaikh took 3 for 18.
Batsa raced to the target in just 15.3 overs thanks to unbeaten 45 by Murad Khan who slammed 4 fours and 3 sixes in his match-winning knock. Deepak Gakhar (38 not out) and Prasad Peruli (29) were the other notable scorers.

Ismail Ghulam struck a vital 47 as OCT Al Hail trounced Mott MacDonald by 5 wickets in a Senior Division Knockout game.
Chasing Mott MacDonald’s 140 for 8, OCT Al hail reached the target in the 17th over, scoring 143 for 5. Faris Said Al Zadjali was the other main scorer with 39. TawsifTambe and JavedTanashah claimed three and two wickets respectively.
