Muscat: All students who have home internet connections can access the Google Classroom and digital educational platforms free of cost.

According to the Ministry of Education, teachers and students will receive the distance learning offers from the ministry starting next Tuesday (10/13/2020).

Dr. Nasser Al-Abri, a ministry official, said, " In addition to the digital educational platform for the first-grade students, the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Omantel and Google had launched about six months ago the Google Classroom digital educational platform for grades from five to twelve. In cooperation with Ooredoo, free access to these two educational platforms will be available to all home internet subscribers.”

Al-Abri added, "The operators will also provide an unlimited browsing offer for the two platforms for all mobile subscribers with prepaid or postpaid services, for new and existing subscribers for only OMR2 per month and charge OMR16 for a 10-month subscription."

The ministry explained that teachers will be able to purchase new tablets or laptops in installments at prices starting from OMR7 per month through the use of electronic vouchers, when subscribing to one of the home internet packages and signing a contract for a period of 12 months, and this offer is currently available for teachers only. It will be provided later to students and parents.
