15% of Oman population has diabetes: Ministry of Health

Muscat: The Ministry of Health on Wednesday said, 15% of the population of Oman suffers from diabetes mellitus and about two-thirds of the population suffers from high blood pressure.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Health said: ”Chronic non-communicable diseases constitute a global and local burden, as 15% of the population of the Sultanate suffers from diabetes mellitus and about two-thirds of the population suffers from high blood pressure. While 30% of the population is obese, and 35% is overweight.”
