No fines payable for expats leaving Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has said that expatriates leaving Oman do not have to pay the fines they have accumulated during their time here, provided they depart the country permanently.

The regulation is valid until the end of the year, and is in keeping with the decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19.

The ministry announced an “exemption from fees and fines resulting from work permits for non-Omani manpower, provided that they leave the Sultanate for good.”

“Private sector establishments are also allowed to terminate their non-Omani workforce contracts, provided these institutions commit to pay all workers’ dues and they leave the Sultanate permanently,” added the ministry.
