Two people arrested for threatening, extorting people

Muscat: Two people have been arrested on the charges of threatening and extorting people by carrying out acts contrary to public morals. 

Royal Oman Police said in a statement, "One of the defendants created a fake account in a social media program in which he claims that he works in a prominent job, and after communicating with his victims, he lures them with sums of money and gifts to lure them into photographing immoral sections, and then the accused, together with his partner, threatens the victims and blackmails them to practice acts contrary to morals."

"Royal Oman Police received a report from one of the victims of being threatened and blackmailed by the accused and after investigating and collecting evidence, the accused were arrested. They confessed to the crimes attributed to them wherein they blackmailed a number of victims in the same manner."
