Key issues in GCC securities markets discussed

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Capital Market Authority (CMA), participated yesterday in the 21st meeting of the Committee of Heads of GCC Capital Market Authorities. This is affiliated to the Secretariat General of the GCC States. 

Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority, chaired the Sultanate's delegation via video conference.

The meeting approved a programme for organising a joint Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) campaign aimed to disseminate awareness on investment in securities markets. The meeting also discussed the key issues and development witnessed in the regional and international capital markets.

They also reviewed the minutes of the meetings of the teams affiliated to the Committee, of which some have dealt with the strategies and mechanisms for the integration of capital markets.

The meeting also reviewed the memorandum of the Secretariat General on the requirements of opening accounts, the procedures for Know Your Customer (KYC) and the annual workshops scheduled for 2020 on trading surveillance.
