Two people arrested for smuggling, possession of drugs

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two people for smuggling and possession large quantities of drugs. 

A statement issued online by ROP said, "The General Administration for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances was able to arrest two persons of Asian nationality in the Governorate of Muscat, after follow-up operations and monitoring of smuggling networks that indicated their involvement with international gangs to smuggle drugs with the intention of promoting and trafficking in drugs. ROP seized in their possession of five moulds of crystal drug and 284 capsules of morphine and 629 tablets of psychotropic substances, in addition to two pieces of hashish and tools for trafficking and processing narcotic substances. Legal procedures against them are being completed."

"The ROP continues to tackle drug crimes by monitoring smugglers, traffickers, and promoters of narcotic substances to protect society from these toxins. ROP has been appreciating the efforts made by citizens and residents in order to combat drugs through cooperation and informing the police of any actions carried out by drug dealers and psychotropic substances through Call the hotline (1444) or inform the nearest police station."
