Muscat: The Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Department of the Directorate General of Primary Healthcare in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) recently organised a virtual forum for the officials in the governorates.
Dr Shada Al Raisi, Director of Non-Communicable Diseases and UNFPA representative to the Sultanate gave a lecture during the forum.
Top officials of the non-communicable diseases sections in the governorates reviewed the status and impact of the non-communicable diseases and services provided to patients at the primary healthcare centres during the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the measures taken to protect the medical staff from infection.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the challenges faced by health workers while performing their duties.
The appointments at the chronic disease clinics have been reduced to avoid infection and transmission to patients and to help the health workers provide essential services to the suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19.
