Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,677.77 points, down 0.18 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended down 0.20 per cent at 518.34 points. Al Madina Investment, up 4.35 per cent was the top gainer while Al Omaniya Financial, down 3.85 per cent, was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Renaissance Service was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 271 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.4 million, with more than 2.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 10 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR64,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR38,000 followed by local for OMR26,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed by 0.35 per cent at, 5,933.56 points. Al Madina Investment, Al Sharqia Investment and Oman Arab Bank were up by 4.35 per cent, 2.94 per cent, and 1.91 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial, Muscat Finance, Bank Muscat, Al Anwar Holding, and Bank Nizwa were down by 3.85 per cent, 2.00 per cent, 1.57 per cent, 1.47 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 3,964.31 points, down 0.07 per cent. National Aluminium and Al Maha Ceramic were down by 1.8 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively.

Services index was up 0.19 per cent before closing at 1,575.66 points. Renaissance Service and National Gas were up by 3.66 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively.  Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Service and Ooredoo were down by 1.82 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.
