Omran holds ‘Tourism Horizons’ event at Oman Tourism College

Muscat: An academic engagement programme named ‘Tourism Horizons’ was recently organised by Omran.
The event came as part of Omran’s strategic vision of developing Oman’s top urban and tourism destinations, including the ‘Madinat Al Irfan’ and the ‘Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront’.
Omran is Oman’s leading developer of major tourism, heritage and urban projects .’ The event targeted senior undergraduate students from select academic institutions, specialising in the fields of engineering, marketing and tourism. Omran held the ‘Tourism Horizons’ event at the Oman Tourism College (OTC), which was attended by the tourism and hospitality students and faculty. Dr. Abdul Karim Al Mughairi, dean of OTC, asked students to explore world of career opportunities available at major development projects in the tourism and hospitality sectors in Oman, and contribute to the growth of the sector.
Fahad Al Hinai and Ammar Al Kharusi, senior development managers from Omran gave presentations on Omran and its flagship projects, including Madinat Al Irfan and Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront and Souq Al Mina. Samira Al Balushi, a student majoring in tourism and hospitality at OTC presented her academic project “Tourism Planning and Development-Community-based Tourism,” where she spoke about how Oman stands to gain from developing sustainable tourism practices that involve local communities, with a special focus on Wahiba Sands, Khasab and Bandar Al Khyaran. The last and final presentation was given by Mohammed Al Maimani on “The role of social media in promoting and branding Oman as new tourism destination.”
The event concluded with a Q&A session, and an exhibition of Omran’s major projects in the Sultanate. The event aimed to build awareness about Omran’s new profile and its upcoming projects, and highlighted the direct and indirect job opportunities stemming from these projects.
