Teacher convicted of sexual assault gets seven-year jail term in Oman

Muscat: A sentence of seven years imprisonment and a fine of OMR 5,000 has been awarded to a teacher who molested a student and sexually assaulted him.

Public Prosecution (PP) said in a statement: "The police station received a report from the father of a 17-year-old boy stating that his son had been sexually harassed by the teacher."

The details of the case were published in the Public Prosecution magazine, Society and Law: “One day after the end of school, the teacher called the student and offered to drive him to his home. The student agreed to the request, but on the way the teacher changed the way on the pretext that he wanted to print some notes. He took the child to a building and harassed him and repeated the same act two days later in the same place. On the third attempt, the boy told his father."

"The accused was referred to the public prosecutor and confessed to his crime and the court ruled that he would be imprisoned for seven years and charged a fine of OMR 5,000," Public Prosecution added.
