Stamp paper shortage to be over soon

Muscat: The Notary Public Directorate of Sohar in North Al Batinah has clarified over the complaints on social media regarding the shortage of stamp papers leading to the stopping of transactions.

Speaking to the Times of Oman, a senior official from the Notary Public Directorate of Sohar in North Al Batinah, explained: "A total of 50 stamp papers were allotted to each directorate in the Sultanate and all were used the same day. Therefore, we cannot continue with legal transactions further.

"The Judicial Administrative Affairs Council has informed all the directorates that the papers are under print and they will be distributed to all the Notary Public Directorates in the Sultanate as soon as possible."

He said that after the merger of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice under one umbrella in the name of Ministry of Justice and Legal affairs, the council started making new papers and stamps.

He said the shortage of stamp would be over soon.
