Oman transport: 200km of roads paved in Dhofar

Muscat: More than 200 km of internal roads have been paved in the mountainous villages in the wilayats of Salalah, Taqah and Mirbat in the last couple of years, according to a report released by Oman News Agency.

The major roads include Naship - Al Haq road for 20 km and internal roads in Al Haq city for 32 km, 7 km in Gubgat and 50 km of internal roads in the Wilayat of Mirbat.

Many road projects were implemented at the mountain strip in the Wilayat of Salalah including 20 km asphalt roads in Qairon Hiriti, 6 km asphalt road in the Neyabat of Zeek, 10 asphalt road in Hajeef, 11 km in Naship, 20 km in Tiatam, 15 Km in the Neyabat of Ghado and 9 km in Alsan.

A number of bridges were also built in Salalah city to ensure smooth movement of the large number of visitors during Khareef "Monsoon season" form 15th July till 31st August every year.

New road projects in the wilayats of Dhofar included 8 km in the Wilayat of Dalkout, as well as 8 km internal roads in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, 62 km roads in neyabats of the Wilayat of Thumrait, 35 km internal roads in the Wilayat of Sadah and internal roads in Hasik and Hadbin.

Dhofar Municipality is implementing a number of projects that aim at protecting the green spaces and maintaining the plant cover.

The projects implemented included car parks, shades, rest houses, toilets, metal barriers and rain water discharge canals.
