Muscat: A fine of up to OMR 500 and three months imprisonment for anyone who risks crossing the valleys, an official from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.
Major Mohammad Al Hashami confirmed to The Times of Oman about the tropical storm that the Sultanate may witness heavy rains in most of the governorates, as a result of which valleys and reefs flow.
He said, "There are deterrent penalties for anyone who risks crossing the valleys with a fine of up to OMR 500 and three months in prison. The ROP will not tolerate those who risk crossing the valleys and exposing themselves and others to danger."
Al-Hashami concluded by saying: “Community awareness is required of all individuals, whether citizens or residents and everyone must follow safety procedures and warnings of official authorities regarding climatic conditions.”
