A statement issued online by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said, “The latest weather analysis by the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center predicts a chance of tropical low-pressure development over the northeast Arabian Sea on Thursday, 6th August 2020.”

The statement added, ”This will cause an advection of clouds starting from Friday, 7th August 2020 over Governorates of Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, AD Dakhliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Al Dahirah, Al Buraimi and Al Wusta with chances of varying intensity of rainfall and occasionally thundershowers ranging from 40 to 100 ml, per 24h, reaching the peak on Saturday, 9th August 2020.”

The statement said, ”Flash floods and fresh downdraft winds causing blowing dust over deserts and open areas are expected until Monday, 10th August 2020.”

“Sea wave height is expected to be rough with wave height ranging from 3 to 5 meters. Seawater inundation is predicted to affect the low-laying areas along the coastal areas during high tides,” the statement added.

The Public Authority for Civil Aviation advised the citizens and expatriates to take precaution and stay away from low-level areas, avoid crossing wadis and to make sure of the sea conditions before heading out and follow up on all the weather bulletins.
