Illegal immigrants arrested trying to enter Oman

Muscat: More than 20 persons have been arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), for attempting to enter the Sultanate illegally.

A statement issued online by the ROP said: "Coast guard police boats stopped a boat with 26 infiltrators on board. They were of three Asian nationalities. The boat was stopped close to the beaches of the wilayat of Shinas while they were trying to infiltrate the country."

"The ROP thanks the fishermen for their cooperation with the police as they informed the police immediately. They were watching for smuggling boats coming to the Sultanate by sea," the statement added.
