Muscat: An increase in the number of people recovering from COVID-19 means that the recovery rate among patients in Oman who have the disease has reached close to 60 per cent.
According to figures released on Tarassud, the Ministry of Health’s COVID monitoring app, the recovery rate among both Omanis and expats was 59.78 per cent, as of Saturday, 4 July.
The total number of recoveries in Oman now stands at 26,968, while 45,106 cases have so far been detected in the country: Saturday saw a further 1,177 cases come to light.
Currently, 17,935 people still have the disease, while 203 people have unfortunately died from it.
More than 200,000 people have been tested so far. On Saturday, some 59 fresh admissions related to COVID-19 were made in hospitals, taking the total number of people currently receiving treatment from the disease while in hospitals to 452. Around 116 patients are also under supervision in intensive care units.
Stats also show that the recovery rate in the Governorate of Muscat is about 69 per cent: 18,589 people out of the 28,846 who have tested positive for the disease have recovered from it.
In North Al Batinah, the rate is about 52 per cent, with 2,418 people of the 4,605 who have been infected, having now recovered from COVID-19.
The rate is lower in South Al Batinah (42 per cent), where 1,933 people have recovered from the disease. 4,161 people have so far tested positive for it in that region.
The Dakhiliyah governorate has posted a recovery rate of 49.3 per cent, which means that of the 2,150 people who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 1,062 have recovered.
In the central governorate of Al Wusta, the recovery rate is significantly higher: a recovery rate of 79 per cent means that 1,001 of the 1,267 people there who’ve tested positive, no longer have the disease.
In the Dhofar region, though, the recovery rate is still low, at 27.8 per cent. 303 people of the 1,087 who have tested positive have shown recovery. In the east of the country, South Ash Sharqiyah has recorded a recovery rate of 65 per cent: 680 people of 1,043 have recovered. In North Ash Sharqiyah, the rate of recovery is about 50 per cent: 425 of 843 patients are free of the disease.
In the western Dhahirah region, the recovery rate stands at 44.5 per cent, as 256 of the 575 patients with COVID-19 have recovered there. In Al Buraimi, that rate is about 65.8 per cent. In the northern governorate of Musandam, with 13 of the 20 people who’ve tested positive there having recovered, the rate of recovery is 65 per cent.
