Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,518.040 points, up 0.06 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia index ended up by 0.46 per cent at 519.69 points. Al Madina Takaful, up 2.86 per cent was the top gainer while Al Anwar Holding, down 7.89 per cent was the top loser. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 299 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR557,000, with more than 6.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, nine advanced, five declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR42,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR37,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR5,000 worth of shares.
The financial index closed down by 0.06 per cent at 5,582.97 points, from the previous close. Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa and Ominvest were up by 2.86 per cent, 2.11 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Holding and Ahli Bank were down by 7.89 per cent and 2.40 per cent respectively.
Industrial index closed at 3,954.97 points, down 0.11 per cent. Galfar Engineering was up by 2.17 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic was down by 0.71 per cent.
Services index was up 0.42 per cent before closing at 1,573.40 points. Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power, Renaissance Service, Oman National Engineer and Ooredoo were up by 1.96 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.53 per cent, 0.95 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively. Omantel was down by 0.63 per cent.
