Heavy rains forecast for Oman

Muscat: A low pressure weather condition will affect the Sultanate from today and could lead to heavy rains, and overflowing of wadis due to flash floods, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has warned.

In its weather bulletin, PACA said that the weather condition would affect Oman till July 3 with the peak conditions witnessed on Thursday. "Latest weather charts and analysis show the existence of an upper level low pressure system over the Arabian sea causing advection of clouds with chance of rainfall, occasional thundershowers and flash floods over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar. This may result in flow of wadis," the bulletin said.

The heaviest rainfall will be concentrated over the coastal areas of south Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar, PACA added.
