Muscat: Health insurance does not cover the cost of examining COVID-19 if the result is negative, according to the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
The CMA clarified that the decision to cover medical examinations and treatment for insured persons infected with COVID-19 virus includes all medical examinations and treatment for inpatients in the hospital and in intensive care and those who take treatment from hospitals.
As for the cost of the medical examination, the authority explained: "The health insurance covers the examination if the result is positive and does not cover the cost of the test if the result is negative."
The Minister of Health, "Negotiations are still ongoing with some insurance companies about some of the treatment costs, as insurance does not cover all the costs of COVID-19 treatment currently."
He added: "The sponsor must bear its responsibilities towards domestic workers or corporate workers."
