Total number of COVID-19 cases in Seeb crosses 9,000

Muscat: The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Wilayat Seeb has crossed 9,000, according to government data.
According to figures from the Tarassud app from the Ministry of Health, the number of recorded cases in Seeb has now climbed to 9,115, with the 170 new tests that came back positive on Sunday pushing the total number of reported cases there past the 9,000-case mark.
Seeb now accounts for 35 per cent of all COVID cases in the Governorate of Muscat, which has 25,905 of the 38,150 cases of infection reported in Oman. 4,723 people in Seeb have also recovered from the disease, which translates to 22 per cent of all recoveries in the country.
Bausher has now surpassed Muttrah and is second in terms of areas of Muscat with the most number of COVID-19 cases: it has 7,214 cases of the disease reported so far, or 27.8 per cent of all infections reported in the capital city. 3,554 people have also recovered from the disease, which is about 16.7 per cent of the 21,200 recoveries reported across the country.
Muttrah is now third on the list, and has a total of 7,074 cases, with just 47 fresh positive cases reported there on Sunday, amounting to 27.3 per cent of all infections in Muscat. 5,068 people in Wilayat Muttrah have so far recovered from the disease, representing 23.9 per cent of all recoveries in Oman.
The rate of infection in the other three of Muscat’s six wilayats is far lower. 692 cases of infection and 635 recoveries have been recorded in Wilayat Muscat, while 311 people have so far tested positive for the disease in Quriyat, where recoveries have amounted to 131. In Al Amerat, 792 people out of 1,499 have recovered from the disease.
