COVID -19 cases in Muttrah triple overnight

Muscat: Muttrah recorded nearly three times the number of cases on Wednesday as compared to Tuesday, government data show.
According to the Tarassud app from the Ministry of Health, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Muttrah on Wednesday was 163 compared to just 62, the previous day.
The Wilayat of Seeb has registered more than 8,000 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Tarassud app. A total of 33,536 cases are now registered in Oman with 17,972 having recovered from the novel coronavirus.
On Wednesday, two deaths were reported, taking the total to 142 so far. 104 of these patients were from the Muscat Governorate. South Al Batinah recorded 13 deaths, North Al Batinah has seen 10 deaths so far, and four patients have died in South Al Sharqiyah.
Five new deaths in Al Dakhiliyah, and 2 deaths each in Dhofar and Buraimi has been registered. North Al Sharqiyah and Al Dhahirah have recorded one death each.
The Muscat Governorate has registered 626 new cases, 271 of them in the wilayat of Seeb, 98 in Baushar, 163 new cases in Muttrah and 42 in Al Amerat.
North Al Batinah registered 65 new cases on Wednesday and now has a total of 2,660 cases, 645 of these are in the wilayat of Suwaiq while 921 are in Sohar. Shinas has recorded 231 cases while Saham reports 426 cases. Liwa has 237 cases while Al Khaburah has 200.
South Al Batinah which has a total of 2,510, registered 153 fresh cases of COVID-19, whereas Wilayat of Barka has 63 new cases and Rustaq has 65 new cases. Musannah has 16, and Wadi Al Maawil has three cases of infection. Wilayat of Nakhal has six new cases.
South Al Sharqiyah Governorate has registered 34 new cases to reach a total of 733 cases, 403 of which are from the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Buali and Al Kamil Wal Wafi has reported 78 cases of COVID-19. Sur registered 214 cases of infection, Jalan Bani BuHassan has 36 cases and two cases in Masirah.
North Al Sharqiyah Governorate registered 43 new cases to reach a total of 559 cases, with 275 cases in Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, 63 in Bidiyah, 71 in Dima Wattayeen, 18 in Wadi Bani Khalid, 99 in Ibra and 33 cases in the Wilayat of Al Qabil
Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, which has a total of 1,367 cases, registered 114 new cases on Wednesday, 335 in the Wilayat of Samail, 325 in Nizwa, 228 in Bidbid, 166 in Izki, 134 in Bahla, 73 in Adam, 48 in Manah, and 58 cases in the Wilayat of Al Hamra. The number of cases in Buraimi Governorate has reached 358 out of which 350 are in the Wilayat of Buraimi and eight cases in Mahdah.
In Dhofar Governorate, which has a total of 438 cases, 389 are from Wilayat of Salalah, 21 cases from Shaleem and Alhalaniyat, and Wilayat of Mazyona has reported 20 cases. Wilayat of Mirbat has registered three cases and two cases in Taqah.
Al Dhahirah Governorate has registered 36 new cases, 23 of which are from Ibri and Yunqul has eight new cases. Wilayat of Dhank has five new cases.
Al Wusta Governorate has recorded 1,131 cases, including 1,071 in the Wilayat of Duqm and 48 in the Wilayat of Haima. Al Jazar has recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19. Musandam Governorate has so far recorded the lowest cases of infection, with four cases of infection and nine recoveries.
