Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,525.34 points, up 0.27 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.04 per cent at 517.82 points. Al Madina Investment, up 9.09 per cent was the top gainer while Sohar Power, down 8.33 per cent was the top loser. Al Madina Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ominvest Perpetual Bonds was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 271 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR511,000, with more than 3.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, nine advanced, two declined and 32 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR65,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR58,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,597.55 points, up 0.44 per cent. Al Madina Investment, Alizz Islamic Bank, Gulf Investment, Ominvest and Al Madina Takaful were up by 9.09 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 1.74 per cent and 1.49 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,016.48 points, up 0.15 per cent. Raysut Cement was up by 3.28 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel was down by 2.04 per cent.
Services index was up 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,582.21 points. United Power and Oman National Engineering were up by 5.24 per cent 3.00 per cent respectively. Sohar Power was down by 8.33 per cent.
