Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,527.84 points, up 0.22 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia index ended up by 0.11 per cent at 519.56 points. Alizz Islamic Bank, up 9.9 per cent was the top gainer while National Aluminium, down 9.80 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 491 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.6 million, with more than 8.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 10 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR211,000 while local foreign were net sellers for OMR206,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR5,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,590.29 points, up 0.22 per cent. Alizz Islamic Bank, Ominvest, Al Anwar Holding and Bank Nizwa was up by 5.17 per cent, 1.78 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Gulf Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Madina Takaful and Al Omaniya Financial were down by 4.35 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 1.47 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,027.75 points, down 0.08 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic was up by 2.21 per cent. National Aluminium, Oman Fisheries and Raysut Cement were down by 9.8 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively,
Services index was down 0.02 per cent before closing at 1,585.30 points. Majan College and Al Jazeera Service were up by 4.55 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively. OIFC and Ooredoo were down by 1.2 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
