1,093 gemstone samples inspected in 2019: Ministry

Muscat: More than a thousand samples of gemstones were inspected by the authorities in the Sultanate during last year, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has revealed.
The number represents a rise of almost 11 per cent over the number samples inspected the year before, according to data issued by the Ministry.
"The Directorate General of Standards and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has indicated that the number of gemstone samples that were inspected in 2019 stood at 1,093, an increase of 10.96 per cent, compared to 985 samples in the same period in 2018," the Oman News Agency (ONA) has said in an online statement.
