Oman's Millennium Resort Mussanah unveils new facilities

Muscat: With the opening of new facilities, the Millennium Resort Mussanah seeks to fill the vacuum left by the closure of nearby Al Sawadi Beach Resort and Spa, according to a Millennium Resort official.
“The thing is, we are trying to be a different and very friendly property serving Muscat. Within the region, we don’t have competitors now that Al Sawadi closed its doors,” Christoph Schleissing, the Millennium’s new general manager, told Times of Oman.

Schleissing said the major hotels are in the centre of Muscat, which gives his resort some advantage in drawing tourists driving from the capital or neighbouring United Arab Emirates.
Regarding the Sultanate’s drive to attract more tourists, Schleissing added, Oman has a bright future and his company’s marketing programme seeks to fulfill the vision of the Sultanate.
Millennium Resort Mussanah recently hired Schleissing, who has over 28 years of experience in the hotel and luxury industry.
Earlier in April, the resort concluded its participation in the 50th InternationaleTourismus-Borse (ITB), - the world’s leading tradeshow - where it showcased its world-class facilities and amenities for over 180,000 visitors.
Besides other luxury services, the resort is known for sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, dolphin watching, diving and trips to the popular Ad Dimaniyat Islands.
Last week, the Millennium opened its family pool area and also plans to open a new bar.
“In the future, there will be a very attractive food and beverage offering, barbeque, ladies nights, and more. We are also going to expand our water sports activities,” he said.
Schleissing noted that preparations are also underway for the wedding season in the Sultanate.
“Our wedding arena could hold some 3000 guests. We are also planning to change the flooring to make it more attractive for families to plan weddings at the resort,” Schleissing said.
