New tropical depression forms in Arabian Sea

Muscat: A new tropical depression has formed in the south eastern part of the Arabian sea. It is currently located at a distance of 1,600 km from the nearest point of the Sultanate's coastline at Ras Al Hadd.

According to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), the latest numerical predictions indicate that the weather condition will intensify into a deep depression and then into a tropical storm.

PACA issued weather bulletin 1 on the condition and said: "Analysis indicates that the depression is formed over South-eastern Arabian sea near to the Indian coastal areas with maximum wind speeds estimated between 17 to 25 knots around the centre."

"Early indications show that the depression will track to the north toward the Indian and the Pakistani coast with no effect for the Sultanate's coast during the next 3 days," PACA added.
