Tropical depression remains concentrated over Dhofar

Muscat: The tropical depression is still concentrated over the Dhofar Governorate, with the possibility of moving westward in the coming hours. Heavy thunderstorms could continue in the governorate, and rainfall amounts may range between 100 and 200 mm in the next 24 hours, the Public authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), said in its latest alert.

PACA, in Alert No. 3 said: "Last weather charts indicate that the tropical depression located over Dhofar governorate has estimated surface wind speeds around the centre between 17 and 25 knots and could move to the west in the coming hours."

"Heavy rains will continue during next 24 hours, associated with fresh winds and flooding over low and coastal areas and an increase in Wadis flow with reduction in horizontal visibility," PACA added. "Chances of cloud advection and isolated rain in parts of Al Wusta governorate and sea conditions will be rough along governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta and South Al Sharqiyah."
