Taxis in Oman allowed to upgrade meters

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport has allowed companies, licensed to manage taxis, to replace fixed meter devices with advanced and modern systems.

The ministry said in a statement: "Within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to develop taxi services in the Sultanate in-line with global trends using modern technology that improves the customer experience, the ministry decided to allow companies operating taxis to replace fixed meter devices with advanced and modern systems that work on smart phones."
