Over 12% drop in number of residential plots allotted during March

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 6,836 residential properties across the country till the end of March 2020, compared to 7,805 plots in the same period of 2019, which is a decrease of 12.4 per cent, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The governorate of North A’Sharqiya was allotted 1,463 residential lands until the end of March 2020, which is the highest among governorates. This was followed by A’Dakhliyah with 1,132 properties, Muscat with 1,116, Dhofar with 947 plots and A’Dhahirah with 675 plots allotted until the end of March 2020.
There was a drop in the residential plots allotted to the governorates of Musandam, Al-Buraymi, A’Dakhliyah, South Al-Batinah and South A’Sharqiyah by 74.7 per cent, 86.1 per cent, 44.9 per cent, 40.3 per cent, and 61.5 per cent, respectively. Al Wusta was allotted 45 plots, which is the lowest among governorates.
Meanwhile, the governorates of Muscat, Dhofar, North Al Batinah, North A’Sharqiyah North and A’Dhahirah witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of lands allotted until the end of March 2020 compared to the same period of 2019.
The Ministry of Housing had allotted a total of 28,099 residential plots in 2019.
