Coronavirus: Muscat sees highest number of cases in Oman

Muscat: More than 75 per cent of the COVID-19 cases recorded today are from the Governorate of Muscat, according to the Tarassud application of the Ministry of Health.

The number of cases in the Sultanate reached more than 5,000 with 404 new cases being registered today, the highest rate of infections within 24 hours recorded in the Sultanate so far.

Muscat Governorate alone accounts for 3,831 cases, including 364 of the 404 cases announced today. Muttrah registered 157 new cases, Seeb saw 43, Baushar 156 and Al Amirat 6. Muscat Wilayat registered one new case. A total of 16 deaths have occurred so far in Muscat Governorate with 708 patients cured.

Across the Sultanate, 386 cases have been recorded in South Al Batinah, including 10 new cases on Saturday. The wilayat of Burka saw 6 new cases, while Al Masnaah Wilayat saw 3 new cases and one case was recorded in Rustaq. Overall, there have been 230 recoveries and 3 deaths in South Al Batinah.

Al Dakhliyah governorate registered three new cases from a total of 227 cases .

North Al Batinah Governorate has registered one new case among a total of 210 cases. The governorate has 134 recoveries and one death

The number of cases in South Al Sharqiyah governorate reached 197, out of which137 of them are registered in Jalan bni buali, 15 cases in Al Kamil Wal Wafi, 42 cases in wilayat of Sur and three cases in Jalan bni buhassan.

Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded 67 cases while 39 cases were recorded in the governorate of North Sharqiyah, 46 cases in governorate of Buraimi and 20 cases in Dhofar.

Al Wusta governorate is still free of coronavirus cases and Musandam Governorate recorded the lowest cases of infection, with only one patient and five recovery cases.
