Muscat: In order to maintain continuity in the Sultanate's judicial system, work is underway to switch courts to a remote trial system which will ensure justice and judcial integrity, not letting courts be affected by emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Administrative Affairs Council of the Judiciary announced that it is striving to implement a system of remote trials soon, by means of video communication, which will serve the policies of the Council in bringing the judicial institutions closer to the litigants in a way that contributes to a complete judiciary. The move is in cooperation with the Implementation Support and Follow-up Unit, Tanfeedh.
In its statement, the council said: "The project aims to achieve complete justice, satisfaction of the beneficiaries, to document trial sessions, reduce time and operational costs of the judiciary and achieve the highest completion rate besides avoiding pauses in trials during emergency situations."
