Muscat: What’s Happening Muscat, Oman (WHMO), a popular Facebook page in Oman, has launched a group, to raise food and other essential items for the stranded workers at the Al Sawadi Beach Resort and Spa.
A large number of Al Sawadi Beach Resort and Spa staff have been suffering a hand-to-mouth existence for the last few months as their salaries were not paid after the hotel shut down.
“We are hoping to get food and other stuff and put smiles on the faces of these workers,” said Joanne James (JoJo Bird), the administrator of WHMO, which has more than 26,000 members in the group.
She said the entire motive of the campaign is to ensure that for the time being, these stranded workers at least get something to eat, drink and keep clean, as they have been left without food, electricity and money.
She informed that their group has numerous drop off points all over Oman, and members can drop their items off. “We are working on trying to get a more long term solution to this problem but this is a small start and I hope we can brainstorm as a group and get the much needed aid, as soon as possible,” she added.
