Muscat: Indian nationals in Oman who will be boarding the repatriation flights organised in the coming days and weeks will be subject to screening tests at Muscat International Airport before they’re allowed onto the plane.
Speaking to Times of Oman, Munu Mahawar, India’s ambassador to Oman, said: “We will do screening, because only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed on board, but we are not insisting on any prior testing. The screening done at the airport will involve thermal screening, but if the government of Oman has any other protocols, then of course, that has to be carried out as well.
“Our requirements are only thermal screenings because only asymptomatic persons will be allowed to travel,” he added.
With regards to the protective equipment passengers and air crew on board these repatriation flights he said: “I am sure some precautions will be taken, some will be taken, but those are the protocols that the airlines will ensure, so they will follow their own guidelines. They will follow their own health protocols on which they will be advising passengers.”
