12 injured in massive fire at residential tower in Sharjah

Muscat: 12 people were injured in a massive fire that broke out at a residential building in Al Nahda in Sharjah late on Tuesday.

The fire was doused and no casualties have been reported. The residential tower, named Abbco Tower, has 47 floors, according to media reports.

Authorities had evacuated more than 250 families from the building and that of neighbouring ones, the report said.

Of the 12 people who were injured, five were rushed to hospital with smoke inhilation and seven were treated at the scene. According to reports, the fire also damaged a number of cars parked in the area. The building was constructed in 2006.
