Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

The MSM30 index closed at 3,493.16 points, down 0.20 per cent from previous close. The Sharia index ended higher by 0.40 per cent at 517.79 points. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, up 6.98 per cent was the top gainer while Ahli Bank, down 4.00 per cent was the top loser. Ahli bank was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Oman Flour Mills was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 356 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.4 million, with more than 6.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 8 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR214,000 while foreigners were net buyers for OMR145,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR69,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,464.20 points, down 0.75 per cent. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding and Sohar International were up 6.98 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively. Ahli Bank, Muscat Finance, HSBC Bank Oman, Oman United Insurance, and Bank Nizwa were down 4.00 per cent, 3.70 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.25 per cent, and 1.12 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,009.45 points, up 0.18 per cent. Oman Flour Mills was the only gainer and closed up 3.64 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, and Raysut Cement were up 1.38 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.47 per cent before closing at 1,692.84 points. Phoenix Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, OIFC, and Ooredoo were up 3.77 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.23 per cent, and 0.99 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the sector.
