Muscat: As many as 38 cases of suspected COVID-19 infection have been handled by the ambulance teams of the Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance in various parts of the governorates.
Lieutenant Colonel Hamad Hammadi, Assistant Director General of Ambulance, Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA), said: “PACDA has prepared a strategy for field medical work to deal with the pandemic and raise the level of the ambulatory presence of the service in all of 35 centers operating in the Sultanate."
He added that the authority had strengthened the medical stock for the ambulance service, especially protective equipment required for field work. The ambulance teams are also engaged in supporting centers with cadres, mechanisms, and medical equipment. Additionally, they bear the responsibility of ensuring continued ambulance service availability in case of road accidents or other emergencies.
Lt. Col. Hammadi explained: "The ambulance teams have dealt with 38 suspected cases of Coronavirus in public and private places in a number of governorates of the Sultanate, where they were dealt with according to the medical procedures used to prevent infection, provided emergency medical care, and transferred to health institutions."
