Muscat: Six expatriates in Dhofar have been arrested on charges of fraud and theft from bank accounts.
The Royal Oman Police said in a statement online: "Dhofar Governorate Police Command arrested six Asian people for electronic fraud through text messages." Those arrested allegedly sent messages to people saying their bank cards were being blocked.
The Police have warned the public not to respond to callers from unknown numbers who claimed that they had won cash prizes or that their cards were blocked. Disclosing any personal data related to their bank accounts is also not advised, the police informed.
