Muscat: As part of the continuing efforts of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to curb the COVID-19, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health visited Al-Nahda Hospital, COVID-19 Data Management Center and Sector of Medical Response & Public Health.
The visit aimed to view all the precautionary measures that have been taken and ascertained if they had been implemented according to the approved plan for the public health emergency response for the COVID-19 outbreak.
During the Minister’s visit to Al-Nahda Hospital, Al-Saidi briefed on the various preventive measures followed in the Hospital including receiving and examining patients, especially the cases with COVID-19 in the emergency unit, as well as the admission and follow-up process. In addition, the visit included the admission wards, where the Minister met the medical staff and a number of the admitted patients.
The Minister visited the COVID-19 Data Management Center in Muscat Governorate to look at the Center’s different works including the process of monitoring and reporting the disease and entering all data in the “Tarassud” application that has been developed for this purpose.
Dr. Fatima Al-Ajmiah, Director General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate described all sections of the Center such as the Prevention & Infection Control, Health of Points of Entry (Airport & Ports), Data Management & Epidemiological Investigation Section, Primary Health Care Section, Support & Promote Health of Isolated Persons & the Contacts, Private Establishments, and Studies & Researches. She also reviewed the latest developments of COVID-19 cases across all Wilayates of Muscat Governorate.
Thereafter, the Minister of Health headed to Emergency Management Center to view the progress of work in the Medical Response & Public Health Sector, the developments of the epidemiological situation of the virus locally and regionally along with the mechanism of sectoral response in dealing with various scenarios that may occur.
Al-Saidi praised the effective role of the health workers during the COVID-19 outbreak, indicating the significant efforts exerted by all medical groups in various specializations despite the lack of support. The minister urges all health professionals to adhere to the precautionary measures and follow the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health, in which protecting the medical cadre is on the top priorities of the Ministry.
In addition, the Minister also praised the words of thanks from the citizens and residents for the health workers in social media. He also pointed out that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq follows with great interest in this crisis.
Furthermore, Al-Saidi stressed that most countries of the world suffer from a shortage of medical supplies to tackle this pandemic. The Ministry is exerting all its efforts to provide all required medical supplies indicating that more than 20 flights have been conducted directly to China to import the medical supplies and laboratory fluids, as well as providing a number of medicines from other countries.
Due to the cooperation of all citizens and residents, the Sultanate did not witness a sharp rise in the epidemic curve and the mortality rate in the Sultanate is significantly less than the global rates.
The Minister pointed out that the Sultanate is continuing to take all procedures to curb COVID-19, where the Ministry is increasing and extending the scope of examination in all Governorates in order to early detect the cases, isolate them and account the contacts.
