Omani doctors stay back in UK, help treat Covid-19 patients

London: A number of Omani doctors dispatched by Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) to the United Kingdom (UK) decided to stay and continue their work in British hospitals, following the developments of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in various countries of the world.

Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Kalbani, orthopedist on training scholarship in the Spine Surgery Fellowship Programme in the city of Nottingham, UK, said that the humanitarian motives and the altruism that characterises the Omanis are the reasons for his and his colleagues’ decision to stay in British hospitals, following the developments that caused by the novel Coronavirus.

He explained that his presence on the front line with his fellow doctors in the United Kingdom in dealing with patients infected with the novel Coronavirus represents to him an addition to his professional and specialised career in orthopedics in Nottingham.

It is noteworthy that OMSB, in cooperation with health institutions in the Sultanate, sends Omani doctors to a number of countries such as the United Kingdom, France and Ireland in order to raise their capabilities and acquire the profession skills in accordance with international standards in a bid to achieve more quality in the field of health care in the Sultanate.
