Oman's share index ends marginally lower

The MSM30 index closed at 3,442.34 points, down 1.19 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.83 per cent at 496.49 points. Alizz Islamic Bank, up 8.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Madina Investment Company, down 8.33 per cent was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 588 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.20 million, with more than 8.50 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 13 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR385,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR379,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,480.62 points, down 0.36 per cent. Alizz Islamic Bank and Al Madina Takaful were up by 8.00 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Gulf Investment Services Holding, Oman United Insurance, Bank Muscat, and Oman Qatar Insurance were down by 8.33 per cent, 6.9 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.95 per cent, and 1.3 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,839.52 points, down 0.27 per cent. There were no gainers from the sector. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the only loser and closed lower by 2.42 per cent.
Services index was down 0.65 per cent before closing at 1,711.54 points. There were no gainers from the sector. OIFC, Muscat Gases, Omantel, and Ooredoo were down by 4.71 per cent, 3.13 per cent, 2.53 per cent, and 1.02 per cent respectively.
