GCC Health Undersecretaries convene fifth virtual meeting

Muscat: The Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Health in the GCC states convened on Monday their fifth video-conference meeting to discuss the latest developments of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The meeting reviewed the minutes of the fourth meeting, which was held last week, and focused on the health sector after the end of this pandemic. In addition, the conditions to get life back to normal after this pandemic has been highlighted also during the meeting.

Furthermore, the Undersecretaries reviewed the number of PCR tests that were undertaken for COVID-19 cases, discussed the precautionary measures to protect the health professionals, as well as the financial impacts of this pandemic on the health sector generally.

The GCC Undersecretaries praised the significant efforts exerted by the staff working in the health sector and their contribution in tackling COVID-19, as well as the cooperation of the citizens along with the official and civil authorities in these exceptional circumstances. They also congratulated everyone on the occasion of the upcoming month of Ramadan.

In addition, the health Undersecretaries urge all GCC citizens and residents to adhere the infection control standards, avoid attending gatherings as much as possible, and maintain the preventive safety measures followed in such cases. They also stressed the importance of taking the information from official sources and to not pay attention to rumours and unofficial social media channels.
