Oman's health ministry issues advisory on fasting during Ramadan

Muscat: The Ministry of Health invites patients to communicate with their doctors before Ramadan to ensure their ability to fast.

The ministry said in its advisory: "Contact your doctor before Ramadan to ensure that you are able to fast to avoid any health complications and do not forget to do daily checks at home during the fasting period, such as measuring blood pressure and sugar levels."

The Ministry also issued a list of common medicines and foods that should be avoided together.

The ministry said: "In the event that you are able to fast, contact the doctor and pharmacist to confirm the correct way to take the medicine in Ramadan, and follow the nutritional advice to avoid drug reactions with some types of foods and drinks."

"In the event of any symptoms that cannot be treated at home, such as severe hypertension, refer to the emergency unit," the ministry noted.
