New device developed for airport runway lighting in Oman

Muscat: Maintenance teams have developed a drilling device with special specifications to install new airfield ground lighting for the runway at Muscat international Airport.

A statement issued online by Oman Airports said: "With the aim of reducing costs, Oman Airports succeeds in developing a device with special specifications to install airfield ground lighting for the runway at Muscat International Airport."

Engineer Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Hinai, Senior Manager of Airport Systems in the Maintenance Department at Muscat International Airport, said:"The specialized team has made some adjustments to the drilling and demolition device which normally used in construction work and adapting it to fit the drilling of the runway, in order to fix lighting malfunctions and install new Airfield ground lighting for the runway at Muscat International Airport in cases of breakdowns or replacement."

"A special cart is designed in the maintenance workshop of Oman's airports to carry and adjust the required sizes during the drilling process,"the statement added.
