Coronavirus: MECA asks shops to switch to eco-friendly shopping bags

Muscat: Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs calls on shops to replace plastic shopping bags with environmentally friendly ones.
A statement issued online by (MECA) said : "New scientific studies have warned that the Covid19 virus stays on the surface of plastic and stainless steel for two to three days."
"In a report from a specialised medical journal, New England, on March 17, which studied the COVID19 virus and its survival on different surfaces, it was found that the virus can live on plastic surfaces, including plastic shopping bags, from 48 to 72 hours."
