Government cautions public against Coronavirus rumours

Muscat: The Government Communications Centre on Wednesday clarified that the news being circulated about the number of recovery cases in the Sultanate reaching 57, including two cases in, were rumours.

A statement issued online by the GCC said, "The circulated news that the number of recovery cases in the Sultanate had reached 57, including two cases in Al Dhahirah Governorate, dates back to April 2, 2020."

Meanwhile, the GCC also denied reports being circulated on social media about the outbreak of the Coronavirus in some bakeries in Muscat Governorate. An online statement by the GCC said there was no truth to these reports and urged citizens to be careful when handling information from unofficial sources.

The statement said, "We encourage everyone to take information from its official sources because spreading the rumours exposes you to legal liability."
